Bangladesh Government's representation began in Karachi in 1976 as Bangladesh Trade Commission. The office was converted into Bangladesh Consulate General in 1985 and on Pakistan's rejoining of Commonwealth in 1989, became Bangladesh Deputy High Commission.
The Deputy High Commission has its jurisdiction over Sindh and Balochistan. It looks after all visa, consular, investment, trade, and commerce, and all other relevant issues concerning Bangladesh and specifically the Government of Bangladesh arising from these two provinces.
